Creative Healing Connections

Grant Name:  Creative Healing Connections

Project Size: $16,000, annually

Grant Amount: $2,000, annually

Strategic Value: Enhancing quality of life for the chronically ill

The purpose of Creative Healing Connections is to provide creative experiences and promote healing and growth.  Creative Healing Connections was initially founded to use the arts and nature to support the healing of women living with cancer and other chronic diseases, but has since expanded to include women veterans, women spouses and partners of those who serve in the military, and men, both active duty and veterans. CHC also includes children and caregivers. Retreats are the foundation of their mission and anyone in need of healing is invited to attend. People living with shared health challenges can come together in a safe place and share their stories and build a network of support. Participants are taught a variety of skills they can use to enhance their quality of life.

Grant Analysis:

Costs for attendance vary depending on the retreat. Scholarships are available for those in need of financial aid. It is their goal to ensure that anyone who wishes to attend can afford to do so. Donors such as Cloudsplitter help to make the scholarships available.  In 2016, funding from Cloudsplitter awarded 5 grants of $400 to 5 chronically ill people from the Adirondacks who were unable to pay their own way.

Since its founding, Creative Healing has offered over 40 retreats that have benefited over 537 women, 80 men and 60 children.
