All Hands Volunteers

Grant Name: All Hands launch and start-up support

Project Size: $6,000,000 annually

Grant Amount: $250,000 over five years

Strategic Value: Applying American entrepreneurial and technical expertise to the immense logistical problem of deploying volunteers to disasters around the globe

In 2016 All Hands deployed 38,000 volunteers from 116 countries to 900 separate disaster relief projects.

Grant Analysis: An initial $1 million grant (2007) established All Hands’ core endowment. Annual grants of $25,000 to $50,000 have allowed this then-new 501c3 grow to become the premier disaster-relief organization operating around the globe through volunteers. Clearly a success.
